Lauta

Instrument of the lute family. It has a smaler body than the Greek laouto, the peg box is shaped like that of the UD, and carries a set of four double strings, which are tuned in unison. The tuning  of the istrument is as follows and starting from lowest D- A - D- A. One characteristic of this lute is the layout of the fretting , which uses the Natural scale for the  division and has 27 frets in the octave.
